Brand Lounge Shares Strategic Branding Methodology with MBA Students at the University of Wollongong in Dubai
Brand Lounge recently had the opportunity to engage with MBA students at the University of Wollongong in Dubai after being invited by Professor Munyaradzi Nyadzayo to speak to his class on the role of strategic branding in building brands that matter.

Led by Brand Lounge COO Zak McKinven and Head of Design & Creative Impact Mo Saad, the session provided students with a behind-the-scenes look at how Brand Lounge approaches strategic branding, from uncovering meaningful opportunities to creating differentiated and commercially relevant brand experiences. We introduced our proprietary methodology and explored our Four Dimensions of Differentiation framework, demonstrating how strategic thinking shapes every stage of our work.
The discussion quickly evolved into a lively and engaging Q&A, with students posing thoughtful questions on topics ranging from brand architecture and portfolio management to navigating unclear client briefs and establishing consultative partnerships. The conversation highlighted the realities of modern branding and the importance of asking the right questions before searching for solutions.

To bring the methodology to life, we walked students through our work on Vallé Advenature Park in Mauritius, showcasing how the project moved through our Discover, Uncover, Differentiate, and Maximize phases. The case study demonstrated how a rigorous strategic process helped transform a destination into an icon of Mauritius through the creation of an entirely new category, Advenature™, designed to differentiate the brand locally while creating a platform with the potential to scale globally.
The session concluded with an interactive group workshop where students presented live project work currently being developed in Dubai. Working in smaller groups, we provided feedback, challenged assumptions, and shared practical guidance to help strengthen their thinking and approach.

It was an energizing and rewarding experience, and a reminder of the value of connecting industry practice with academic learning. At Brand Lounge, we believe the future of our industry depends on creating stronger connections between academia and practice. Sessions like these create opportunities to share knowledge, challenge perspectives, and help prepare the next generation of brand leaders.
We extend our sincere thanks to Professor Nyadzayo and his students for their curiosity, engagement, and thoughtful participation.
