Charles Zuber needed to command attention, justify its price positioning, and earn relevance among discerning collectors from day one.
The complexity was threefold. First, the brand had to honor its Swiss origins without becoming predictable within traditional Swiss codes. Second, it needed to compete within a new era of luxury shaped by digital fluency and experiential expectation. Third, it had to build sufficient emotional and functional value to justify a high-end price positioning.
Building a movement before market entry was essential. Charles Zuber needed a point of view strong enough to stand beside established horology benchmarks while carving its own distinct territory.
The strategic shift began by reframing luxury through the lens of the Performer archetype, moving the brand from Functional Craftsmanship to Emotional Exuberance.
While traditional horology relies on silent restraint, we defined a new territory: Neo-Swiss. This positioning preserves the discipline of Swiss heritage while introducing Distortion, Motion, and Dimension as core design principles.
By rejecting conventional minimalism, we created a brand world centered on La vie, exubérante — a life lived with daring provocation and the beauty of simplicity. This philosophy gave Charles Zuber a clear and ownable point of view in a category where most new entrants default to imitation rather than invention.
The launch at Abu Dhabi Art 2022 brought this thinking to life through an immersive experience that translated Neo-Swiss principles into space and sensation, engaging collectors and tastemakers through live performance and an environment designed to inspire desire rather than simply display product.

A Neo-Swiss Design Philosophy
Our Neo-swiss design philosophy cascades onto all aspects of our visual language, from typography, to color to photography.
In the context of the Charlez Zuber brand, Neo-Swiss can be defined as a distorted conception, one that is propelled in motion and enters a new dimension of luxury.


The brand philosophy translated directly into the visual language. The Charles Zuber logo combines a refined wordmark with the descriptor "Genève," grounding the brand in origin while signaling confidence.
Typography became a primary differentiator through what we coined dynamic text: stacking, warping, and rotating type to capture dimension and motion, reinforcing the Neo-Swiss principle across every expression.
Color played a strategic role. Citrine anchored the palette, referencing Swiss heritage while injecting boldness. Onyx and Ivory introduced modern refinement, while jewel-toned accents supported the jewelry line.
The result was a system that felt rooted yet distinctly disruptive.

An ownable product signature further strengthened differentiation. The Lucerne Star, inspired by a story from founder Charles Zuber's youth, became a distinctive brand mark featured within high-horology novelty pieces, linking personal legacy with contemporary craftsmanship and creating narrative depth within the product line.

The website introduced an interactive e-commerce platform built around motion and unpredictability, reinforcing the brand's departure from conventional luxury digital experiences.

The Neo-Swiss philosophy extended consistently across photography, film, digital, and retail. A collaboration with fine arts photographer Lara Zankoul produced a library of over 120 lifestyle and product assets, alongside a brand film translating Dimension, Motion, and Distortion into a cohesive visual world.

As lead sponsor of Abu Dhabi Art 2022, Charles Zuber generated significant press attention across television, trade, and specialist publications, with the Neo-Swiss philosophy sparking broad conversation within the global luxury and horology community. In its first month, digital channels attracted over 43,600 impressions.
The brand went on to exhibit at Watches and Wonders in Geneva and Dubai Watch Week, standing alongside some of the industry's most established names. In May 2023, Charles Zuber opened its first retail store at Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi.
